Closing Date For Kidkast Virtual Competition

Don’t forget the closing date for our online competition is tomorrow, Friday 20th November. Video entries must be sent via wetransfer.com using the email address kidkastvirtualcompetition@gmail.com

We cannot wait to see what you all have to offer, including our family entries! We hope all you parents are practicing hard!

The Live final will take place on Zoom on Sunday 29th November, where entries will be shared on screen and our judge’s decisions will be announced.  It will be a day filled with excitement, awards, and most importantly a moment for our students to shine.

All our fantastic judges have now been announced on Instagram.  We are delighted to have the following industry professionals onboard.

Our Judges

Ciaran Behan began his performing arts training as a child in Kidkast and stayed there until the age of seventeen. He then moved to London to study at Bird College, where he obtained his BA HONS in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre. Since graduating he has performed with Royal Caribbean, rehearsing in Miami and cruising around the Bahamas. He has also worked as Greg James’s body double for the BBC, and last Christmas performed in the Cheerios Panto in Dublin. Ciaran was due to perform in the musical Top Hat on board Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth, where he would have travelled to countries including Canada, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

Sabrina McCarthy is a young Australian dancer and choreographer, originally from Sydney Australia. Sabrina is a current teacher and choreographer for award winning studio “The House of Sole” where she has won back to back titles competing in the renowned ‘SOLE FAM’ and ‘Genetik’ dance crews. Her career has skyrocketed in the last year, providing her with opportunities to teach internationally and Australia wide. She has been teaching since the age of 13 and is very passionate and experienced. Her most recent accolade is dancing for 5OCENT & GUNIT on the RnB Fridays Australia Tour. Sab is forever seeking to expand and push boundaries as an artist and to set a leading example for young females across the globe.

Laura Macken trained at The Irish National College of Dance and joined Dublin City Ballet dancing in classical, contemporary, and jazz works. As a freelance dancer she worked with Irish Modern Dance Theatre, Dance Theatre of Ireland, CoisCeim Dance as well as in productions at The Abbey Theatre, The Gaiety, The Olympia, The Tivoli, The Barbican Centre in London, and the Melbourne Theatre Festival. She was assistant choreographer for RTE’s Centenary in 2016 and has danced in many RTE productions. Laura graduated from the University of Limerick in 2017 completing her MA in dance. In 2018/2019 Laura presented her first two original works Connections, and Lift with Dance Project funding from The Arts Council of Ireland. Laura teaches at The College of Dance, Dance Ireland and is delighted to be back teaching at Kidkast.

This competition is in-house and only open to all Kidkast students and their families and there is no charge to enter.

  • Students can enter in more than one category if they wish but no more than one entry per category.
  • Each entry should be no longer than two minutes.
  • The deadline for receipt of entries is Friday the 20th of November at 6pm.
  • Please send video entries to kidkastvirtualcompetition@gmail.com via wetransfer.com stating which category you wish to enter.
