Term 1 Newsletter

Term 1 Newsletter

Our first news update in the current year and it is hard to believe we are entering week 7 of Term 1. The Kidkast year is spread over 4 terms, between September and the following June and each term has 9 weeks of classes. We presume students will continue with their chosen classes as we move from term to term. If you are looking to make any changes, please do so by emailing info@kidkast.ie and we will update things accordingly. All Term 1 fees should be paid in full at this point. If you are unsure, please email us and we will let you know. We will be emailing directly during the week. Payment can be made in studio or online by clicking on this link revolut.me/Kidkast For our club students who pay weekly – as of last Saturday there should have been 6 payments made against Club.

We have viewed September 2022 as our restart after the dirty word – Covid. We have been busy both visually and behind the scenes. You may have noticed the ongoing works in the studios which are nearly finished now. The works include upgrading to all our bathrooms, adding a shower room, adding a locker room for the students, full upgrade to our fire and security alarms, new flooring throughout all public areas, upgrade to our storage facilities. It is safe to say the Kidkast “home” offers the finest facilities in the northeast of the country.

At our heart we are performance based and you may have seen KAST Productions advertised on social media over the past few months. KAST Productions, as it says, is the production side to Kidkast which offers professional and non-professional gigs, and we kicked off with the amazing Matilda in the Droichead Arts Centre earlier this year. There are many projects in the pipeline, and we are currently working on a commissioned piece for the Drogheda Motor Show as well as other events at Halloween and Christmas and not to mention our full production early next year. KAST Productions operates outside of class time and is on an audition basis. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for all the latest KAST Production news.

Kidkast holds a prestigious Vocational and Educational status in recognition of our training standards and in preparing our students for third level training in particular. Many of our students choose to continue with their studies in Colleges and Universities within Ireland, the UK and Europe. This year is no different with Amie & Jessica who are joining Tori, Alex and Emma at Phoenix Performing Arts College in Dublin and Oisín Dunne who is attending the prestigious Performers College in Essex. We wish them the very best and look forward to seeing what the future holds for them.

Ballet exams take place this Friday and we wish our students the best of luck.  These will be followed closely by our Modern Theatre Dance exams, and first round of drama exams for this year.  Drama exams will then revert to pre-Covid planning with one session per year, which will take place in June.

Our Hip Hop crews had another successful invasion in Trabolgan last weekend, and you will spot the new silverware in the trophy cabinet. A big thank you to Karl our Hip Hop teacher and Chris for his help as well. We have been successfully running our Hip Hop crews for many years and it is a great way of mixing with other students and making lifelong friends. Crews will open to new members later in the year and we will let the school know when this will happen. Many of you bought lines in our raffle and we will announce winners later in the week. Thank you for your support.

LOST PROPERTY..!!!!! We could open a clothing and accessory store with the volume of lost property. Much of it predates Covid and we are going to bring everything to the charity this Friday. If you want to check on missing clothes, please come before Friday.
