Kidkast Update

Today,  Friday 19th June, we will finish our regular Zoom timetable for the Summer.  Beth will be running a small number of classes on Zoom to keep our students busy and connected and we will forward details of this via email and online through our parents portal at sixtechsoftware.com.  Thanks to Beth, Nina, Sarah and Karl for keeping online classes going over the past few months, and thanks also for the support of our students & families who embraced the Zoom classes with enthusiasm and gained so much from them.

The 1st and 2nd of June should have been our show weekend, we should have spent the last few months surrounded by costumes, music, lists about lists and more lists.  Instead we had a fantastic Zoom Awards Night on Saturday 1st.  It was so great to see everyone dressed up Oscars style and enjoying the look back at old shows, along with some singing and dancing.  Every cloud has a silver lining and at least this way the parents got to join in too.  We had a massive turnout on the night and thank you so much to everyone who was there on the night, and for the lovely comments and messages we received afterwards.

A big thank you to everyone who voted in our People’s Choice Awards, and to all the nominees and winners, this was great fun!  A special mention to the teachers and staff who were there to support and congrats to Annaleigh for receiving the Student of the Year award for 2003 (albeit 17 year too late..!!!).  Also a big thanks to our new teacher Amy Reynolds, and teaching assistants Tori Dillon and Lauren Milne who have been amazing all year, and fantastic role models for our younger students.

We would like to give a special mention to our two senior boys, Oisín and Chris, who both received awards at our Zoom Awards Night.  These two have been dancing together on the same stage for over 10 years. Both have taken different directions, both extremely talented, dedicated and a pleasure to have in our school. For the first time we gave Special Recognition award, and this went to Chris Howick Crook for all his achievements. The coveted Student Of The Year was awarded to Oisín Dunne who attends Drogheda and Kate Hickey who attends Collon, congratulations to you both.

We have really missed everyone and we can’t wait to see you all back in Old Abbey Dance Studios and Teach Raithneach and we are working hard behind the scenes to ensure we can do this in a safe way. We are currently preparing our safety procedures in line with the legal requirements and following closely the Government guidelines in respect of re-opening which as you are aware are changing regularly.

At the moment we are hoping to hold a limited Summer Camp in August in Old Abbey Dance Studios and return to classes in both venues this September. The finer details can not be finalised until there is greater clarity which we hope will come from the Government soon. As soon as things are clearer we will email with an update.

Finally, thank you for your continued support and well wishes, as we have really needed it. This has been the most difficult time in the Schools History and there have been both ups and many downs over the last few months. We hope that everyone has remained safe and free from this awful disease. We want you to know that we always put our students safety first and we are working really hard at the moment to ensure that our return is safe for everyone. We have great plans for the future and are so excited for our return.
